Consistently recognized for energy, excellence and skill, Dr. Smurda was named “Resident Teacher of the Year” and “Resident of the Year” during his residency at Bayfront Medical Center.  Dr. Smurda also received the Award of Excellence in Laparoendoscopic Surgery by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy. Dr. Smurda is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is active in several medical organizations, including the Medical Association of Georgia, the Southwest Georgia Physicians Association, the Georgia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society, the American Medical Association, the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine and the Medical Alliance of Dougherty County.

A Savannah native, Dr. Smurda has practiced medicine throughout the state of Georgia.  Following medical school and residency training, Dr. Smurda entered private practice in Sandersville, Georgia, fulfilling a Rural Georgia Scholarship. He began to practice in Albany in 2002.

Dr. Smurda lives in Albany with his wife, Keli, and four sons, Dylan, Carson, Mac and Luke. His hobbies include fishing, golfing and running.
