[ALBANY, Ga.] The Ultrasound Practice Council of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine is pleased to announce that Women’s Health Professionals is now accredited in Obstetric and Gynecologic Ultrasound.
“The AIUM’s Ultrasound Practice Accreditation Council is reviewing numerous applications for accreditation,” stated AIUM’s director of accreditation, Paula Woletz, RDMS, RDCS, MPH. Women’s Health Professionals achieved accreditation in recognition that the practice met voluntary standards set by the diagnostic ultrasound profession. To achieve accreditation, ultrasound facilities must have well-qualified personnel including a certified sonographer, high standards for the performance of each ultrasound procedure, appropriate ultrasound facilities and equipment, adequate record keeping and quality assurance guidelines.
According to Steve Kitchen, M.D. of Women’s Health Professionals, “Accreditation by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine demonstrates a practice’s commitment to providing excellent patient care and high quality ultrasound examinations. The importance of achieving accreditation is that it is granted only after a facility undergoes a rigorous voluntary peer review process of all aspects of its ultrasound practice.”
Hope Phillips, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, oversees the practice’s ultrasound facility. Phillips provided much of the necessary information as well as images required for the AIUM accreditation process. Women’s Health Professionals was awarded accreditation in Obstetric and Gynecologic Ultrasound for a period of three years.
